Technology Self-Assessment (School 2.0)

Using the School 2.0 site, a site that presents a world wide project for students, I was able to utilize the reflective tool to assess my current level of skills related to technological integration. This assignment meets NETS-T I because it promotes technological creativity for students and allows me to provide a virtual experience for my future students.

The key to a successful learning environment is communication. Communication not only between the teacher and student, but between student and student as well. Therefore, because I feel that communication is so important, I chose NETS-T Module #1: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity, #4, Top 10 Web 2.0 Tools for Young Learners. This article contains, as stated by the title, the top 10 website tools to enhance the learning experience for youngsters.

Listed in this article are web tools such as Yack Pack, Animoto, Voicethread, Blogs, Wikis and Sype that aid in communication. These tools can be used successfully in the classroom, during homework assignments or group projects  to enhance communication between students as well as the teacher. Although communication is so very important, creativity is vital as well. This article also introduces links to websites that assist in creativity. Kerpoof, Voki and Glogster are creative web tools and Create-A-Graph is a creative learning tool. Overall I learned that the internet is a very powerful tool, not only for research but for communication and creative tools as well.
